Default Laptop repair

someone gave me a AlienWare Laptop (m5500i-R3 series) for free but it doesnt charge. Ive tried charging it with/without the battery in it and the actual battery cord is good. Think its something to do with the actual laptop.
Anyone know anyone or someplace where I can get it fixed for a good price?

Without a battery in it, there is nothing to Charge up. Do you mean it will not power on with the power supply plugged in?

Sounds like a dead battery. Best just get rid of the laptop. I'll take it.

You have multiple Power supplies?

It is possible that the green light on the power supply comes on, but not enough voltage to actually power the laptop.

i can check it out for you and if it needs new dc jack then i need to take it to my uncle's shop and get a new connection for it and that my friend is gonna cost some money for the labor and the part should be cheap... that's only if the dc jack is bad, but if its the motherboard ... i would tell u how much it will be! ....
pm me if u want.... i work in computers .... but i dont have all the tools at home!! that's why soldering and stuff like that i have to take to my uncle's shop!

So, if you plug in the power cord (which has the power supply on it, laptops don't carry an onboard power supply) either the power supply is dead and you need to replace it, OR there is an issue with the connectors where the power supply plugs in and no contact or not enough contact is being made to the mother board, OR your motherboard is toast.
